General Motors is recalling roughly 1300 affected Buick LaCrosse full-size cars and Cadillac SRX crossover SUVs from the 2013 model year to fix a problem with automatic transmissions:
On certain vehicles, the transmission may shift from Driver Shift Control (manual) to Sport (automatic shifting) unexpectedly. If the driver was slowing the vehicle using DSC (manual) mode to achieve engine braking, engine braking would be cancelled without warning. In conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver’s reactions, this could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury.
We are thankful that there have been no crashes or injuries reported, and we will be re-programming transmissions at no cost to the owners. Recall notices are expected to be sent out as soon as possible, and the recall to officially begin on March 28, 2013. This recall specifically affects LaCrosse vehicles built between April 25, 2012 and March 6, 2013, and SRXs built between May 29, 2012 and February 18, 2013.
Here at Don Wheaton Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac, we are encouraging our customers to contact us at their earliest convenience so that we can ensure that their vehicle is operating as safely as possible!
