United Way of the Alberta Capital Region Event
During the 2nd annual Food Truck Friday hosted by Don Wheaton, food trucks donated portions of their sales to the United Way of the Alberta Capital Region. Giving back has always been a high priority for the Don Wheaton family, stemming all the way back to Don Wheaton Sr. He used to tell people that “for every eight hour work day, you should give back one hour to the community”. The Don Wheaton family understands that becoming a staple in the community comes with a responsibility to do the best you can for those within it. Proof is in the pudding with the United Way of the Alberta Capital Region event.
Of the eight trucks that arrived in total, six were actually returning vendors. Local Omnivore, Sailin’ On Food Truck, Bully Food Truck, La Poutine, Yellowbird Cafe Truck, and Little Village acted as the second year veterans to the new trucks on the lot Atilla the HUNgry and Casa 12 Doce. Live music and entertainment were in full swing, keeping the party going. Brenda Dirk, Deanna Missins & Taylor Hambly, and Zoe & Denon performed along with DJ Thomas Culture at the charity event.
Strathcom Media, Jag Printing, 102.3 Now! Radio, and Up! 99.3 sponsored the event and photography was provided by JustPhoto. With over 1000 attendees throughout the night, volunteers from all three Don Wheaton dealerships were working hard to keep up with the pace of the night.
Don Wheaton of Edmonton AB aims to not only provide a top of the line automotive buying experience across all of it’s dealerships, but to extend it’s reach throughout the community as a whole. With such fantastic success at the event this year, we expect to see larger and larger turnouts from sponsors, vendors, and attendees alike as the event continues as the years go on.
