Firkins House – Fort Edmonton Park
Rumors of paranormal activity at Firkins House are pretty well know. Whether it’s an appearing ventriloquist doll, a floating spirit near the bookcase or a small boy playing with a red bull, the legends of ghosts at Firkins House are seemingly endless. While we can’t tell you what is and is not true, we can tell you that the home was purchased by Fort Edmonton Park in 1992, with a warning of its hauntings. While the house’s Edwardian architecture is incredible, be warned if you visit Firkins House — you just might get a scare.
Constructed in 1915, the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald, this is another beautifully constructed building that has a bit of a haunted history. Many who have stayed at the hotel have heard the sounds of a horse-drawn carriage on the top floor, and although no one has ever seen it, reports of the mysterious sound continue. Rent a room and see what you can hear, but you may want to keep your Chevy running in case you decide you need to make a quick getaway.
This fine educational institution has had its share of scares, including the sounds of a men’s choir singing through the walls in the men’s dorm rooms. Additionally, people have reported the appearance of a professor dressed in 1960s attire.
Of course, urban legends are only speculation and rumours, but in the spirit of Halloween, we thought we’d tell you about some of the “real” haunted locations in Edmonton AB.
