Canyon Autoweek Truck of the Year
Automakers have built the pickup truck class into one of the fiercest competitions in the automotive industry. The American automotive press is in a similar arms race with handing out awards. The new 2015 Chevy Colorado, available at Don Wheaton, drew first blood being named Truck of the Year from Motor Trend magazine. Now, competing American automotive publication, Autoweek has named the 2015 GMC Canyon, Truck of the Year. From the beginning, both publications praised the near-twins’ overall design and each truck’s dimensions. With both of these pickup trucks winning top awards from influential publications the future of mid-size pickup trucks looks very promising.
The evaluators at Autoweek took the 2015 Canyon as well as the rest of test subjects and spent three days at the Michigan International Speedway testing all available metrics. And with little surprise the new 2015 GMC Canyon came out on top.
“Of the hundreds of vehicles Autoweek tests each year, only a relative few truly stand out from the rest,” Autoweek editor Wes Raynal said in a GMC press release. “The GMC Canyon is not only one of the best new vehicles on the market, it’s one of the most important, signaling an exciting return to the mid-sized truck segment.”
With a very affordable manufacturer’s suggested retail price and the aforementioned outstanding performance. The new 2015 Canyon posts class-leading performance across all of its power plants. The standard 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine will make 200 horsepower and the upgraded 3.5-liter, V-6 will produce 305 horsepower. That all of that power does not come at the expense of fuel economy. The base four-cylinder engine will record up to 8.8 L/100 km and the V-6 returning 9.2 L/100 km. Additionally, the new midsize 2015 Canyon will have the new 4G LTE wifi hotspot to aid drivers and passengers stay connected to the most important things in their life.
