Release date for the 2016 CTS-V
Without question or much in the way of debate, Cadillac vehicles are the pinnacle of vehicle offerings from General Motors and certainly within the inventory available at Don Wheaton. However, even among the best vehicles available within the Cadillac lineup, there is still a top one percent that outperforms everything else on the board. For Cadillac shoppers and enthusiasts, its the incredible V-series. The flagship sedan of the Cadillac V-series is the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V that was quietly unveiled to the automotive press last month at a GM facility in Detroit, Mich. The release date for the 2016 CTS-V still isn’t locked down, but early estimates place it near the end of summer.
We might be in the middle of a cold snap right now. But we thought we could help warm you up with a little preview of what this new high-performance Cadillac sedan can do. It would be pretty easy to claim that within the 112 years of Cadillac vehicle production that the 2016 version of the CTS-V is going to be the fastest one to roll off an assembly line. The supercharged, 6.2-liter, V-8 engine that sits under the hood of the 2016 Cadillac CTS, will produce 640 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque. During development testing at the GM proving grounds, the 2016 CTS-V hit 321 Km/hr and achieved a zero-to-100 Km/hr time of just less than four seconds. All of these figures are on par with how the new Chevy Corvette Z06 performs, arguably the fastest and more high-performing vehicle GM has built to date.
This high-powered engine that will debut with the release date for the 2016 CTS-V will give the new Cadillac sedan more horsepower and torque than direct competitors from Mercedes-Benz and BMW. Many, if not all, of the mechanical components that are standard equipment with the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V are born from racing. This includes the design of the chassis and suspension as well as the supercharged engine and quick-shifting, eight-speed transmission with paddle shifters. Further making the transition from zero to more than 300 Km/hr possible is the cutting edge developments in launch control and the Cadillac-exclusive Performance Algorithm Shifting.
The wait for the release date for the 2016 CTS-V may seem interminable. But we promise to feed your speed needs with more updates about the sedan as we get them from our manufacturing partners.
