Chevy Custom Sport Package
In keeping with the theme of getting factory-applied accessories packages applied to the Chevy and GMC pickup trucks available at Don Wheaton, Chevrolet is announcing that an updated version for the classic Custom Sport Package for the Chevy Silverado. Just like when the redesigned 1967 Silverado was offered to consumers the new Chevy Custom Sport Package, it is a great way to distinguish one’s Silverado from the rest of the pack. The original Chevy Custom Sport Package was offered at a time when pickup trucks were making the transition from solely a vehicle for the job site, to being more of a daily driver.
“The Custom Sport special edition was inspired by Chevy Custom Sport Trucks of the late 1960s,” Michael MacPhee, brand manager, Chevrolet Trucks in Canada said in a Chevrolet Canada press release. “Those custom sport trucks added a modern appearance to a great all-around truck, just like the Custom Sport package for the new Silverado.”
The original 1967 Chevy Custom Sport Package included bright trim, thick interior carpet and bucket seats. This was the first wave of transforming pickup trucks from a strictly utilitarian use to something a bit more family-friendly. As for the modern version of the Chevy Custom Sport Package, this accessory package will feature front and rear bumpers that will match the color of the truck’s body, a body-color-matching grille surround, chrome door handles, mirror caps as well as chrome body-side moldings.
Customer that want to take advantage of the Chevy Custom Sport Package will have to start with a 2015 Chevy Silverado in either the LT or LTZ trims. Even versions of the Silverado with the Z71 off-road package can take advantage of this new accessory package. LT version will come in black or white paint schemes. The LTZ versions, and presumably the Z71 models, will have black or White Diamond Tricoat as color options.
