If you have been reading the Don Wheaton Blog for a while now, you may remember when we showed you photos of the new 2016 Buick Cascada when it debuted at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January. There was a lot of reasons to be excited about this vehicle. It was set to be the first Buick-branded convertible to be available to consumers in about 25 years or so. This got many of the sales staff at Don Wheaton very excited. So, will the 2016 Buick Cascada be sold in Canada? Unfortunately not. When we reached out to some sources at Buick’s Canadian offices they gave us the bad news.
Honestly, the fact that the 2016 Buick Cascada won’t be sold in Canada isn’t the worst news in the world. While it has all the trappings and tools necessary to make it a great car, there is a distinct lack of practicality that comes with it for our environment. That being said, Don Wheaton has a huge selection of Buick vehicles that are more well-suited for dealing with the ice and snow that comes with the joys of living where we do. Here are a couple of options for you to consider.
Instead of taking home a light-weight convertible, you could consider the 2015 Buick Enclave. This eight-passenger SUV is very well suited to deal with less-than-ideal road conditions. It is inherently heavy, which works well for dealing with snow-covered and slippery roads. Also it can be outfitted with a very useful all-wheel drive system. This is not to be confused with four-wheel drive. However, between the inherent weight and stable handling of the 2015 Enclave, most drivers should be confident on the roads.
When you were looking over our photos of the 2016 Cascada, you were looking forward to taking advantage of some open roads and really doing some aggressive driving, within the limits of the law. Our other alternative for you, now that the 2016 Buick Cascada won’t be sold in Canada, would be the 2015 Buick Regal. The Regal GS offers a very powerful turbocharged 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that is capable of making nearly 260 horsepower and can be outfitted with all-wheel drive. Adding to the sport theme of the new Regal is a variety of sport-themed cabin features.
