Custom Cruise Friday
Thank you for joining us for another installment of Custom Cruise Friday. This week’s feature goes in exactly the opposite direction of last week’s inaugural entry. Whereas, Arlen Kublik was working to keep his grandfather’s 1964 Oldsmobile F-85 Deluxe in original condition, this week’s owner has opted for some of the most cutting edge parts available during his rebuild. Leo Hipkiss, Used Vehicle Manager at Don Wheaton, was kind enough to bring in his highly customized 1999 Pontiac Trans Am for us to take a look at. It doesn’t take a much of a trained eye to see that Hipkiss built this machine to carve up the road or race track with surgical precision.
Nobody is going to mistake this 1999 Trans Am with the Bandit. The longer profile and sculpted front end have a very modern look, even though the car was built in the 20th century. The striking white contrasted with the 30th Anniversary racing stripes give the illusion that Hipkiss’ car is ready to spring life and set an impressive quarter-mile time at any second. Also, did we mention this is a convertible? Whether the top is up or down, the care with which this vehicle was customized is evident from tip to tail.
The list of included upgrades to Hipkiss’ Trans Am reads like the Christmas wish list of a true automotive enthusiast. There is almost no component or system that hasn’t received an upgrade or been completely replaced with a higher-performance version.
The highlights include, Trickflow 215 cubic-centimeter heads, Transgo shift kit, B&M transmission cooler, Magnaflow Cat Back exhaust system, LS6 Air Intake manifold, American Racing TTII wheels wrapped with Nitto Tires.
If you have a vehicle that is in need of some modifications or a general upgrade in equipment, contact the Don Wheaton Fleet Services Department Today and schedule an appointment.
