GMC Canyon awards
From the very moment the tires of the first GMC Canyon hit the ground at Don Wheaton, everyone was keenly aware that the midsize premium pickup truck was going to be a hit. After a couple of seasons on the shelf, GMC designers and engineers delivered a pickup truck that was nimble, powerful and efficient. They wasted no energy in building something that might compete with the rest of the class. The effort brought forth produced one of the most highly acclaimed General Motors vehicles in a while. As the new class of 2016 models arrive, the previous version was awarded yet another honor from the editors at Cars.com.
The reviewers from the website praised the pickup truck for its well-heeled manners on the pavement as well as its ability to provide outstanding capability while hauling heavy loads in the cargo bed and as a trailer. This capability does not exist in a vacuum. Editors at Cars.com smartly noted that the performance and overall excellent quality of the GMC Canyon is a direct result of the outstanding materials and methods with which the truck was built. The other trucks in the contest were the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro and the Nissan Frontier PRO-4X.
“The GMC Canyon scored well throughout our tests, and offered a capable and luxurious ride and feel that clearly separated the GMC from the rest of the pack,” Cars.com Pickup Truck Editor Mark Williams said in a GMC press release.
Each of the trucks was tested on a long and extensive rubric of criteria. Among the categories examined were performance, ergonomics, available technology, value as well as off-road capability. The tested SLT version of the GMC Canyon easily outscored the other two trucks that it was facing.
Expectations couldn’t be higher for the upcoming 2016 model of the GMC Canyon. The biggest difference between what was offered last year and will be available this year include a brand new turbocharged Duramax diesel engine. This new power plant will make the truck more powerful and more capable than ever before. In addition to being able to produce more horsepower, properly equipped versions of the GMC Canyon will have a significant increase in towing capacity.
