Custom Cruise Friday
When someone comes to Don Wheaton to purchase a new car, truck or SUV, one of the things each sales professional tries to do is match the customer with a vehicle that is going to represent the person driving it. This week’s Custom Cruise Friday Blog features a very unique 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 with a Crew Cab and one of the most original exterior paint schemes the Don Wheaton Blog has ever encountered. Owner, Gil Desharnais may not have set out to own such a special pickup truck; however after seeing it in the Sunburst Orange color, the die had already been cast.
“When I saw that color I thought, ‘Wow, nobody has that color.'” Desharnais said. “That’s really different.”
Desharnais purchased the 2015 Silverado from Don Wheaton sales professional Fred Nordstrom. Before taking delivery, Desharnais had a number of extra features added to the truck to make it his own. The commissioned work included having the wheel well flares, bumpers and headlight surrounds painted to match the Sunburst Orange exterior. Additionally, chrome accents play a major role in the aesthetic theme of this truck.
“I’m the old guy, I still like the chrome,” Desharnais said.
The truck has a custom chrome mesh grille, chrome dual side steps, chrome FUEL wheels and chrome exhaust tips. The special wheels are wrapped in Terrain Grabber MT 35-inch tires. Also the 2015 Silverado 1500 sits on a six-inch lift kit, which has the advantage of providing a surprisingly supple ride.
“It’s a very good ride,” Desharnais said. “It’s very smooth compared to what I’m used.”
Trucks previously profiled in the winter edition of Custom Cruise Friday have been meant for work and/or play. The Silverado owned by Desharnais is solely for his owning pleasure and getting excited looks from people he see’s during his travels. Since he took the truck home in May 2015 from Don Wheaton, Desharnais has racked up about 15,000 kilometers; including a trip to Vancouver. Each stop he makes usually involves at least a handful of questions about the color and equipment found with the vehicle.
However, this is one of the most protected trucks that has ever been profiled in the Custom Cruise Friday series.
“It’s just a toy for me,” Desharnais said. “I don’t want to see it in the snow with all of the calcium. I want to own keep it for a long time.”
Since the snow is already on the ground in Edmonton, Alberta, Desharnais has tucked the truck away for the season.
This will be the last Custom Cruise Friday for 2015. However, after the holidays, if you have a truck or other modified vehicle that you would like to see profiled in a Custom Cruise Friday blog, contact Don Wheaton Brand Manager Melina Kawecki by email, firstname.lastname@example.org, be sure to send some photos and pertinent information.
