Custom Cruise Friday
Work place romances are usually frowned upon by the boss, to say nothing of human resources. However, even the most strict supervisor would probably give Deon Pittman as pass. Pittman was working a factory shutdown for about six weeks and in that time he was using a company-owned newer model of the GMC Sierra as his primary vehicle. In Pittman’s own words he, “fell in love” with the truck. After not owning a GMC vehicle for nearly 20 years and doing some deep searching online, he finally found exactly what he was looking for, a 2015 GMC Sierra All-Terrain 2500 HD in a very special Deep Red paint scheme.
“I was specifically for the Deep Red color,” Pittman said. “I finally found it at Don Wheaton.”
Pittman purchased the truck from Don Wheaton Sales Professional Dario Miglioranza in July of last year. During the intervening six months or so, he has already accumulated around 21,000 kilometers. Many of the upgrades that appear on the special edition Sierra are either a part of the All Terrain HD package or were added by the Don Wheaton Fleet Department. Some of the components that fall under the latter category include the lift kit and the Lionclaw MT tires wrapped around 20-inch aluminum wheels. He also had some features commissioned including a tonneau cover and after-market special fender flares.
Other truck owners that have been profiled this winter in a Custom Cruise Friday feature choose to treat their trucks with kid gloves. Not that the condition of Pittman’s truck would give any indication, but he uses it as a truck is intended to be; including hauling a snowmobile and other outdoor gear like a camper. He is also a lucky father whose children participate in youth hockey. This also explains the impressive amount of kilometers he’s travelled.
“I use it as a truck,” Pittman said. “Otherwise it’s pulling hockey gear to and from the arena.”
While he has been very happy with the Sierra pickup, Pittman still has some plans to continue the customization process. Without going into specifics, he plans on deleting many of the chrome accents and adding a custom grille.
“The customer service has been great (at Don Wheaton),” Pittman said. “I’m getting lots of people asking about (the truck).”
