Specs of the 2016 Cadillac CT6
The sales staff at Don Wheaton is very anxiously waiting for the arrival of the all-new 2016 Cadillac CT6 to the showroom. Development of the 2016 CT6 represents a new upper echelon of luxury sedans available to buyers. Engineers and designers at Cadillac have taken steps to make sure that the specs of the 2016 Cadillac CT6 place it in line with or ahead of some of the top names in the luxury sedan class of the automotive industry, including BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
This is not an unprecedented stance for Cadillac. The last time the automaker placed European automakers in its sights, the Cadillac CTS was produced. Buyers can be sure that the all-new CT6 will take them to the next level.
“The CT6 is nothing less than an entirely new approach to premium luxury – and an approach only Cadillac can offer,” Johan de Nysschen, president of Cadillac said in a Cadillac press release. “It is a bold endeavor with unmatched dynamism that reignites a passion for driving in large luxury vehicles. In short, it is prestige luxury reimagined.”
Built to perform from the ground up
Improving the specs of the 2016 Cadillac CT6 took more effort than just offering a new engine lineup or including cutting edge technology. Although, both of those things were done for the new Cadillac CT6. Engineers from Cadillac have constructed one of the most advanced body structures in the entire global automotive industry. By choosing to use a construction methodology surrounding expanded use of aluminum as well as 11 different materials, the 2016 CT6 will happily respond to the intense handling and performance needs of a new generation of Cadillac owners.
As far as how the specs of the 2016 Cadillac CT6 stack up against some other competitors, the new Cadillac sedan has ended up with some interesting figures. The overall dimensions of the 2016 CT6 place in on par with the short-wheelbase version of the BMW 7-Series. However, it is it remains lighter, more agile and more efficient. Additionally, the new CT6 is lighter than the BMW 5- and 6-Series as well as the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
Allowing Cadillac engineers to achieve the hard-to-beat specs of the 2016 Cadillac CT6, they had to start basically from scratch. The all-new Omega architecture used for the new CT6 has more than a dozen high-pressure aluminum castings. This is a major element in providing the nearly silent passenger cabin experience.
New engines offer power at all stages
Don Wheaton customers considering the 2016 Cadillac CT6 will have three engines to choose from. Base models will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that can make up to 265 horsepower. There are also a pair of V-6 options which can be placed under the hood. The first is a naturally-aspirated 3.6-liter, V-6 and the other is a twin turbocharged 3.0-liter, V-6. Customers choosing the former will be able to use up to 335 horsepower and the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter engine has a peak power output of 404 horsepower. It bears noting, the new 3.0-liter, V-6 engine is one of the most power dense engines in its class, able to produce 133 horsepower per liter of air displaced. Cadillac will also produce a plug-in version of the 2016 CT6, later in the sedan’s production schedule.
