What is different about the 2017 Chevy Bolt?
The first generation of exclusively electrically-powered vehicles gave many consumers in our area pause. At the time, battery technology on this scale was still pretty new, somewhat unproven and buyers were concerned about being stranded without a place to recharge their cars. Engineers from Chevrolet have quickly put many of these fears to rest with the incredible development of the Chevy Volt. The hybrid sedan has logged millions of miles without using a drop of gasoline. That technology’s success has been leveraged into the power system for the next generation of Chevy electric vehicles, the 2017 Chevy Bolt EV.
Why buy the 2017 Bolt EV?
One of the main efforts behind the 2017 Chevy Bolt EV is to bring electrically powered vehicles to more consumers. Even though everyone at Chevrolet should be proud of the Chevy Volt, it was still out of the price range of many consumers. By using existing technology and impressive Chevy innovation, the automaker is going to be able to offer a vehicle powered solely by electricity for the same price as a well-equipped midsize sedan. Engineers were able to keep the cost of the 2017 Bolt EV to more attainable prices by borrowing the battery technology from the first generation Chevy Volt. Future Bolt EV owners should be able to have a total range of well more than 300 horsepower.
“It was less than a year ago that we revealed the Bolt EV concept and promised to deliver a long-range electric vehicle attainable by the masses,” GM Chairman and CEO Mary Barra said. “The Bolt EV is capable of using the latest mobile app technology to enable car sharing, advanced GPS routing and gamification, all designed to enhance the ownership experience now and into the future.”
How much room is in the 2017 Chevy Bolt EV?
In order to allow potential owners to get the most out of the 2017 Bolt EV, Chevy designers used their blank slate to deliver a highly functional hatchback design. Starting with a 102-inch wheelbase and a wide stance on the road, the unibody superstructure of the 2017 Bolt EV can accommodate up to five passengers, two in the front and three in the back. Even with passengers occupying the rear seat the new Chevy electric vehicle offers more than 16 cubic-feet of cargo space. By comparison, the Honda Fit and BMW i3 each come up short.
