How much will the 2017 Bolt EV cost in Canada?
When the 2017 Chevy Bolt EV was introduced back in January, it was billed as a low cost option for buyers to get in on the electric vehicle revolution. It would appear that Chevy recognized its technology developed for the Chevy Volt hybrid is a winner, but it’s price tag remains out of the range for some buyers. Today (Sept. 20), Chevrolet has announced Canadian pricing for the 2017 Chevy Bolt EV. A base model of the new electric hatchback will have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of just under $43,000 including the destination charged. Residents of British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec may be eligible for provincial tax incentives when buying the car.
“Value is a hallmark for Chevrolet and the pricing of the Bolt EV proves we’re serious about delivering the first affordable EV with plenty of range for our customers,” Alan Batey, president of GM North America and leader of Global Chevrolet said in a press release. “We have kept on our promise yet again, first on range and now on price.”
Should I buy the 2017 Chevy Bolt EV?
Chevrolet has done an outstanding job of keeping the Canadian pricing for the 2017 Chevy Bolt EV as low as possible while offering excellent capability, range and standard features. Last week, the automaker broke new ground with the news that the 2017 Bolt EV will be able to travel more than 380 kilometers on a single batter charge. Canadian dealerships like Don Wheaton offer the DC fast charging kit as a part of the standard features found with the car.
Furthermore, the 2017 Chevy Bolt EV and its driver can work together to keep the battery level as high as possible while in motion. When the car is in motion, a lever near the steering wheel can engage the regenerative braking system to help slow the car down (in non-emergency situations) without using the brakes. This feature engages a generator wheel to build up an electric charge. When used properly with one of the four selectable regenerative braking modes, a driver can add about five percent of range to the 2017 Bolt EV. In ideal conditions, this would be just under 20 kilometers.
