New design for the 2018 Chevy Equinox
Never let it be said that Chevrolet doesn’t have a sense of timing. The automaker introduced the new design for the 2018 Chevy Equinox on the first day of fall, or the autumnal equinox. It will be a little while before the new Chevy Equinox with its updated internal and external features will not be available in the Don Wheaton showroom, but enough photos have been released to give us pretty solid preview. Basically, the new design for the 2018 Chevy Equinox builds upon the vehicle’s flexible nature and its exterior is now reflective of Chevy’s global design standards seen in its lineup of sedans.
“Customers who previewed the vehicle early on had a strong emotional response to the sleek and sophisticated exterior design,” John Cafaro, executive director, GM Design said in a press release. “Those same themes are carried through to the interior, making the space beautifully intuitive.”
New elements for the 2018 Equinox
Once customers see the new design for the 2018 Chevy Equinox they are going to be in for something pretty special. Each of the new trim grades will be richer and more detail oriented that previous versions. Like the new Chevy Malibu, the 2018 Equinox will have chrome accents, projector-beam headlights and LED daytime running lights as standard equipment. Also, the horizontally-oriented taillights will accentuate the athletic and wide stance of the new Chevy crossover SUV.
There is also a new interior look for the 2018 Chevy Equinox. The automaker’s design team built the instrument panel to be slung down and a way for a better view through the windshield. Additionally, the upholstery can come as a newly available denim-style fabric for more style and durability. Finally, the second-row of seats have been redesigned to allow for a flat floor.
Is Chevy making a diesel engine for the new Equinox?
Each production year the Chevy Equinox has been available at Don Wheaton, it has come with the same two basic engine options, a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine and an available V-6 upgrade. Along with the new design for the 2018 Chevy Equinox, customers will have three engines to choose from. Once the new Chevy crossover SUV arrives to the showroom, there will be a pair of turbocharged four-cylinder engines (1.5- and 2.0-liter) to consider. But the biggest surprise comes with the turbocharged, 1.6-liter diesel option. Not only is this development expected to increase capability and efficiency, but will also likely be a segment-first option.
