Differences among 2017 Camaro trims
If you are a regular visitor to the Don Wheaton Blog, you may have noticed that nary a week goes by where we don’t have some kind of mention of the 2017 Chevy Camaro. There is a very good reason for this, we love this car and are working very hard to get as many people as possible to see our point of view as possible. With that we want to take a little trip into the minutiae by discussing some of the differences among 2017 Camaro trims. This car comes in a number of versions and those new to the Camaro family may be a little overwhelmed.
What comes with the Camaro 1LT/2LT/1SS/2SS?
These versions of the 2017 Camaro offer an incredible array of features including an increasing menu of technology features, satellite radio trials and the optional RS package for the 1LT and 2LT versions. For lack of a better term these are the standard versions of the Chevy Camaro. Lower trims like the two LT options offer the new turbocharged, 2.0-liter four cylinder engine. The new 3.6-liter, V-6 is an optional upgrade and the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter, V-8 is standard on the SS model. The V-6 engine can also be found with the 2017 Camaro SS.
What is the Camaro 1LE package?
Without getting too deep into automotive lingo, the 1LE package for the 2017 Camaro is a performance upgrade that would be added to the car like any other feature. It is available for LT and SS versions of the 2017 Camaro with the V-6 engine. Future owners that choose to add the 1LE equipment will see a pretty significant increase in performance like 5.2-second zero-to-60 mph time for the Camaro LT. Another second falls off that result with Camaro SS 1LE. Additionally, both version will see a further weight reduction with the upgrade for the Camaro SS 1LE.
What is the 2017 Camaro ZL1?
At the top of the track-ready versions of the 2017 Chevy Camaro, sits the ZL1. There is such a huge gain in performance from the Camaro SS to the Camaro ZL1 that Chevy almost treats them like different cars. The headline surrounding the new Camaro ZL1 is the supercharged version of the 6.2-liter, V-8 engine that is under the hood. Like the Corvette Z06 it was borrowed from it will offer Camaro owners 650 horsepower and a zero-to-60 time of 3.5 seconds.
