Custom Cruise Friday
During the doldrums of last winter, we did a series of Custom Cruise Friday posts about cars various Don Wheaton Staff members owned through out the years. It was kind of an automotive version of the old “The one that got away” story. Looking back at those cars that have gone on to the next lives with new owners or even the scrap heap is a fun walk down memory lane. We would like to open up this to all Custom Cruise Friday fans. We’ve all had favorite vehicles we’d love to see the photos and hear why you loved it.
How do I send in my favorite car story?
If you have a particular vehicle from your past which brings a knowing smile, email a few photos and some contact information to Don Wheaton Brand Manager, Melina Kawecki. She or another Don Wheaton representative will be in touch with you to set up an interview so you can tell us everything we need to know and some things we probably shouldn’t.
Walk down memory lane one more time
Dale Burak and his 1989 Dodge Daytona Shelby were quite the pair. The Don Wheaton sales professional picked up the lightweight, 174-horsepower coupe in 1990. Not only was this a particularly rare model, but he was also not particularly shy about getting his money’s worth from the power plant.
“(I took) any chance I hade to race,” Burak said. “When you’re a young kid, you’re like a rooster, right? Anyone that will give you that look that, ‘You want to go?’ — you obviously go at the drop of a second.”
We might be a General Motors dealership, but that doesn’t stop us from appreciating a beautiful automobile like the 1968 Dodge Coronet Super Bee in Medium Dark Turquoise with a Navy Blue interior. Another Don Wheaton sales professional, Fred Nordstrom picked out this car in 1968 after he finished college with aims on being a teacher. It was the first car he and wife, Carolynne owned as a married couple.
We hope to hear from you and start getting the first entries on the Don Wheaton Blog by Boxing Day.
