Magnetic Ride Control on the 2017 GMC Sierra
In the 100 or more years that GMC has been building pickup trucks, the brand has come to be recognized for its world-leading premium products. The 2017 GMC Sierra available in the Don Wheaton showroom, is ready to support this heritage as well as add a few notes of its own. For the current model year, GMC engineers have improved the towing capacity of crew cab models to be the best in the segment and have also added a few other systems to help drivers take more advantage of the truck’s new capabilities. More specifically, GMC Sierra drivers will have more control and be more comfortable behind the wheel by making Magnetic Ride Control available on the 2017 GMC Sierra.
Magnetic Ride Control added to 2017 Sierra
The cutting edge Magnetic Ride Control system was first developed to help a new class of Cadillac coupes and sedans handle more precisely at high speeds. Over the years the system has shown up on more vehicles to refine handling profiles across the General Motors vehicle lineup available at Don Wheaton. Other mechanical improvements made to the 2017 GMC Sierra include, a more robust trailering package which hosts heavy-duty rear springs, special shock tuning and an integrated trailer brake. Duralife brake rotors and an automatically locking rear differential have also been added to the equipment list of the 2017 GMC Sierra.
How does Magnetic Ride Control work?
Magnetic Ridge Control is a pretty simple concept. Basically, a tube filled with a special kind of fluid is wrapped around certain suspension components in the 2017 GMC Sierra. The fluid has particles in it that react to a magnetic field. A computer controller reads the conditions of the road and automatically adjusts the viscosity of the fluid in the tube – allowing for more or less travel as needed. The system is so responsive that it can make 1,000 adjustments in one second. The video below explains more.
