Is OnStar available on used Chevys?
The OnStar telematics suite has been one of the most popular features in Chevy, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles for nearly 20 years. Don Wheaton shoppers quickly learn about everything the system can do as soon as they start inquiring about the models in which they are interested with one of our sales professionals. Not only do all new GM cars come with an OnStar trial period, a similar offer is extended to pre-owned customers as well. While some circumstances may vary, most pre-owned GM vehicles available at Don Wheaton built after 2006 come with a three-month trial of OnStar. Additionally, a three-year OnStar Basic Plan is also included.
OnStar services for pre-owned customers
It’s important to explain how OnStar works to those that may be coming under the General Motors umbrella for the first time. With a simple press of a button, vehicle owners with OnStar services can summon help in the event of a crash, ask for directions and have them sent to a vehicle’s touchscreen (if equipped) and even get a snapshot of a vehicle’s health.
One of the most impressive parts of the OnStar suite of services is the 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. GM vehicles with this capability can have up to seven devices connected to the signal at any given time. Through General Motors agents, OnStar offers a number of data buckets so users will always have enough data to get them the information they need. Additionally, the high-speed internet signal can be accessed outside of the equipped vehicle, up to 50 feet away.
OnStar security solutions
Anyone who has had a vehicle stolen from them knows what an empty and vulnerable feeling that is. OnStar’s Stolen Vehicle Assistance helps law enforcement track the vehicle’s location to aid with recovery. The newest vehicles from the automaker are compatible with a proprietary application which can remotely lock, unlock and start the vehicle.
