Is Cadillac going to the Escala?
In the several months since the Cadillac Escala concept vehicle has been unveiled to the public, fans of the brand have become increasingly interested what will become of the sedan and its next-generation style and technology. Is Cadillac going to build the Escala? That question is still up in the air. It likely won’t be built in the form it currently has and we know that it won’t have the Escala name when it goes into production. However, the concept vehicle does show what Cadillac is capable making and what the company thinks people will want to buy. The next few model years are going to be very exciting.

“Escala is a concept car, but one based upon the unrelenting rise of our product substance,” Johan de Nysschen, president of Global Cadillac said in a press release. “Depending on the development of market segment for large luxury sedans, Escala is a potential addition to our existing product plan.”
What will the new Cadillac sedan be called?
The introduction of the Cadillac CT6 sedan and the XT5 crossover SUV show the beginnings of new Cadillac naming conventions. Future sedan names will start with CT and have an even number higher or lower than six. Crossover SUVs will use a similar style but use XT and an odd number higher or lower than five. Our guess is that if the Escala, or something based on that design, is produced it will likely be named the CT8 or higher. It’s also possible, even likely, that the next new Cadillac sedan will supplant the CT6 as the brand’s flagship. The Escala has the design cues and potential for performance to merit such a change.
Cadillac has also said that the Escala concept uses its large luxury car architecture and is based around having a rear-wheel drive drivetrain. This is an element that has a very strong chance of making it into the production model.
