It may be classed as a compact crossover SUV, but there’s a pretty decent amount of space inside the 2022 Buick Envision for people and cargo. And it’s as stylish and premium on the inside as it looks on the outside. The Envision boasts a very attractive, modern exterior design that was only unveiled last year. There’s nothing economy in the slightest about the way this compact crossover looks and feels, although entry-level models can still be a very good value for money.
A compact concept is also applied to the 2022 Envision lineup as there are just three different trim levels for buyers to choose from, but they do still manage to cover a reasonably wide range of prices and specifications. The most affordable version of the 2022 Buick Envision is the Preferred trim in its standard front-wheel-drive format, but you can still upgrade this model with all-wheel-drive if you are happy to spend a little extra. The middle of the three trim levels is called Essence, and the range-topping model is the Avenir, but both of these trims are standard all-wheel-drive with no front-drive option.
All versions of the 2022 Buick Envision are now powered by the same 2.0-litre turbo-four engine that develops a very lively 228 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. This powerplant sends its generous amount of power to the front or all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission. You’ll come across noticeably bigger and heavier SUVs driving around Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Spruce Grove, and Leduc with engines of this size and smaller in some cases, so you know this powerplant in the Envision is going to handle anything you’re likely to ask of it with something to spare.
Differences in fuel economy between front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions of the Envision are pretty small. Front-drive versions are rated at 10.0 L/100km in the city and 7.6 L/100 km on the highway, while AWD versions are rated at  10.5 L/100km in the city and 8.2 L/100 km on the highway.
You will find cheaper and less luxurious compact crossovers around than the 2022 Buick Envision, but it’s definitely worth taking a close look at what you actually get for your money with the Buick before going for something else as the standard equipment levels are pretty impressive, to say the least. Preferred models come standard with the likes of a full complement of power features, an 8-way power driver’s seat, LED headlights, 18-inch alloys, cloth and leather seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
All models also come with the Buick Confidence Plus package of safety features that includes Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Following Distance Indicator, Forward Collision Alert, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, IntelliBeam auto high beam assist, Front Pedestrian Braking, Rear Park Assist and Automatic Emergency Braking.
The 2022 Buick Envision can be a pretty high-end, luxurious, incredibly comfortable, and extremely well-equipped compact crossover SUV, but it can also be surprisingly good value at the entry-level too.
